On a trusting soul May 6, 2010

If I dared over the receipt of the day,

would there be

jewels

to hang in the glow of luscious eve,

a soft pastel

to soothe the plainish wall for waking eyes,

a box of words

for two

to linger on?

The night comes on and these, too,

accrue to another reckoning – one

braised on but a hint of flame that flickers

not a breath

in the knowing

that I would have

if I could have.
